OCTOBER 2018 BUSINESS MEETING MINUTES
The October 23rd Meeting was called to order by President Bill.
After a correction to the minutes that we did not transfer $1000 to Youth and Community Nancy made a motion to accept the minutes. It was seconded by Bob and passed.
Bill Lowery reported there is $387.71 in the General Fund, $1471.58 in Youth & Community and $4196.42 in Savings. We also have $240 in our 50/50 account. Joe made a motion to accept the treasurer’s report. Pete seconded it and it passed.
Under old business Bill reminded everyone that the next 50/50 drawing will be Tuesday, November 27th.
Bob gave a report on the pumpkin carving and said that everything went well. He thanked everyone that helped. He said the pumpkins were late and they didn’t look very good. We were only charged $230 rather than $500. He thinks we probably got more pumpkins than we ordered. He has already reserved the pavilion for next year which will be held on October 19th and 21st.
Under new business Nancy advised everyone the Christmas party will be on December 11th at Rachel’s at 6:00. The choir is booked. She reminded everyone to bring two dozen cookies.
Pete congratulated Bob and Rick on a job well done with the pumpkin carving.
Pete has created a zone web site. It will cost each zone $15 per year. Dick made a motion that we participate. Joann seconded the motion and it passed. Pete added that this will depend on all the clubs participating.
Pete suggested we have a zone mixer to try to increase our membership. He will contract Rob McAndrews to see if it is feasible.
The wine taste will be April 26th. We discussed possibly reducing the number from 150 to 125 since we had a low turnout last year. It was decided there would be no tickets sold at the door. There will only be presales so we can be better prepared for the amount of food and wine to purchase.
Darlene verified with Lori that she can work at AMS for the speech tournament. Joann, Bill and Bob will be at Fitch at 7:00 a.m. She advised she is cutting back on everything this year. She will bring everything to Joann and Bill’s on Thursday to be set up on Friday. She requested they put out only fruit and donuts in the beginning. We can put out the rest of the food at 10:00. Joann advised we have plenty of paper products.
The meeting was closed with the Optimist Creed.
